Bionic limb replacement: an evolving concept in lower extremity reconstruction
نویسندگان
چکیده
Limb loss is disabling and carries significant functional psychological repercussions to both the individual society. The numbers of amputees are forecasted double by 2050 from vascular disease diabetes alone. Europe has 4.66 million (431,000 amputations per year) United States 2 (185,000 year). Microvascular expertise now more commonplace, increasing likelihood limb salvage replantation. Further reconstructive input can take advantage nerve tendon grafting/transfers, free tissue transfer, complex bone reconstruction. When this strategy does not satisfy needs, such as that seen with unstable soft tissues, amputation may be requested or offered. In part, decision for salvage, replantation, in future likely guided sophistication substitutes. This review will introduce growing domain bionics where research area deliver a sought clinical need.

Understand modalities to enhance the healing and care of soft tissue and bone before free-tissue transfer. 3. Understand the lower extremity reconstructive ladder and the place of free-tissue transfer on the ...
متن کاملPerforator Flaps for Reconstruction of Lower Limb Defects
BACKGROUND Reconstruction of soft tissue defects in the lower third of the leg remains challenging. Anatomical constraints limit the local options available for complex defects especially lower third of leg. Local flaps based on perforator vessels are raising interest in reconstructive surgery of the limbs. We present our experience with perforator flaps for reconstruction of soft tissue def...
